Think about a Grand Challenge announced on April 2, 2013.
It's been a month, and it's time once again to Show Us Your Cans (and boxes, and pouches). Rather than write anything original about this myself, I decided to ask semi-professional interviewee, Mary O'Shag.
She said, "Good Shepherd food pantry supplies needed meal fixings to many of our neighbors in Inwood. The line often starts forming well before 7 a.m. on most Saturdays. Pub Quiz denizens help out monthly by bringing unexpired nonperishable food to Indian Road Cafe on the first Wednesday of every month."
Then she said, "Low sodium and low sugar foods are particularly helpful and wanted, as are seasonings (plain boiled pasta gets tiring, no matter how hungry you are.) Child-appealing products are great too."
She went on to say, "Each team that contributes at least as many items as it has team members, gets an extra point at the end of the night--and that could be a game-changer. Mary O'Shag delivers the goods to the food pantry on the next Saturday the pantry is open."
She closed with, "PS--no glass containers, please!"
That's when I ended the interview.

Also, tonight is the first Wednesday of the month, so you should all remember to show Mary your cans! As always, Mary O'Shag will coordinate bringing donations to Good Shepherd's food pantry.
Everyone is encouraged to bring donations of nonperishable, non-glass-packaged foodstuffs for food pantry. A single bonus point will be added to your team's score at the end of the night if every member of your team brings an item.
And, Mary doesn't want to see just any cans - she's got some standards, you know. She has asked us to ask you to consider spices, non-salt seasonings, and low-sugar snack items.
