It's Thursday again. Groggy, splitting headache, wondering what happened last night. So, let's check the recap to find out. Rest assured, once again something amazing happened. The night had an auspicious start. Dr. Jordan drank a double espresso and Trivialis returned the quizmaster's cup full of spiffy new decorations stuck to pipe cleaners. Alas, they knew the cup would change hands. And, it did.
Despite holding a commanding lead for the first three Wednesday's in January, Deployments and Elopement let their vise-like grip on the monthly prize slip away. Failures in some audio rounds and movie quotes left room for Duke Silver and the Cones of Dunshire to take home the cup. And, they did. By two measly points.
But, before they did, they had to participate in the quiz, which featured rounds on gangster movies, New York City, alcohol, song Alex Trebek loves (he sent us a list), evens, and a common bond about America's favorite Academy Award winning actor named Tom Hanks.
The rounds were great and the scores were close. So close that at the end of the night, four teams were separated by two points. The top two -- The Red Shoes and Buck Futter -- met in a three question bonus round. The questions were hard. They were borderline ridiculous. The madcap rush to deliver answer sheets to Dr. Jordan outside of the cafe looked like something out of Benny Hill. The Red Shoes were closer on two out of the three tiebreakers. To them went the $25 gift certificate. To Duke Silver went the cup. Everyone else walked away a loser. Nice job everybody.
Think up some clever names. And study hard. February's a short month. It only has four Wednesdays.
